Product Longevity Is Resource Efficiency

Keeping a heavy commercial vehicle on the road is the most effective form of resource efficiency we can offer.

For us, sustainability begins first and foremost with the product itself. Our heavy commercial vehicle spare parts portfolio is built to keep vehicles on the road rather than send them to the scrapyard.

Of the 5,047 product codes in our air brake compressor range, 4,489 — approximately 89% — are spare and repair parts rather than complete units. For every 1 complete compressor we produce, we make 16 repair kits. This ratio makes it possible to repair a unit when a fault occurs instead of replacing it in full; the raw material, energy and transport consumed fall in the same proportion.

Long service life is only possible with verifiable quality. Our products undergo 100% functional testing. Our quality control and laboratory units hold 92 measuring and testing devices, and approximately 500 products pass through dimensional inspection every day. We verify corrosion resistance by salt spray testing, material composition by spectral analysis and internal structure by metallographic examination.

Resource efficiency is a design choice in our production processes too. We optimise our casting processes with simulation software before a mould is ever cast, which reduces trial moulds and scrap material. Carrying out aluminium casting, surface treatment, machining and assembly in-house eliminates the transport of semi-finished goods between factories.
