MAN TGX has been MAN's flagship long-haul tractor since its launch in 2007. Fleets across Turkey and Europe run both first-generation TGX trucks and the post-2020 new-generation models, while the large TGA population that preceded the TGX is still hard at work on the road. That puts accurate maintenance knowledge and correct parts selection at the center of fleet operating costs. In this guide we bring together the generations, the engine variants, maintenance intervals and a reliable parts selection method — all on a single page.

TGX generations and engines

GenerationYearsEnginesHighlights
TGA (predecessor)2000–2007MAN engine families varying by periodPredecessor of the TGX/TGS; still a significant number of vehicles in service
TGX 1st generation2007–2012D20 (10.5 l), D26 (12.4 l)Replaced the TGA; Truck of the Year 2008
TGX Euro 62012–2020D20/D26 (Euro 6); D38 (15.2 l) flagship engineEuro 6 transition; D38 top power class added in 2014
New-generation TGX2020–…D15 (9.0 l), D26 (12.4 l)New cab, SmartSelect control concept; TipMatic transmission

When selecting parts, the generation alone is not enough: within the same generation, different engine, axle and chassis variants (e.g. 18.440, 18.480, 26.510…) may use different part references. The most reliable method is therefore to search by the vehicle's chassis (VIN) number or by the OEM number stamped on the part itself.

Maintenance intervals (general framework)

ItemTypical interval*
Air dryer cartridge12 months / check at every service
Brake pad & disc inspectionCheck every 20,000–30,000 km
Compressor discharge line/carbon build-up checkAt major services
AdBlue filterPer manufacturer schedule (at major services)
Transmission (TipMatic)/retarder oilPer manufacturer schedule

*These values are a general framework based on field practice; for binding intervals, the vehicle's service booklet and the manufacturer's instructions take precedence.

VADEN parts coverage for the TGX

Roughly 12% of the catalog (close to 1,500 references) is compatible with MAN vehicles — coverage that spans from the TGA to the new-generation TGX: air brake compressors and repair kits, the air dryer and APU group, brake caliper mechanisms, brake chambers, valves, clutch servos, cooling and engine parts.

Two quick ways to reach the right part:

  • Search your MAN OEM number in our MAN cross-reference table and see the VADEN equivalent instantly.
  • Or type the number straight into the product search — it matches OEM numbers, VADEN codes and competitor references.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which engines does the MAN TGX use?

The first-generation TGX (2007–2020) was built mainly with the D20 (10.5 l) and D26 (12.4 l) engines; from 2014, the 15.2-liter D38 was added as the flagship engine. The new-generation TGX introduced in 2020 uses the D15 (9.0 l) and the D26.

Are TGX and TGA parts interchangeable?

Although there is some continuity in certain chassis and brake components, treat the general answer as no: the engines, the electronic architecture and the brake systems changed between generations. Parts selection must always be verified against the OEM number or the chassis number.

How often should the air dryer cartridge be replaced on a TGX?

Common practice is once a year; intensive urban duty and humid climates shorten that interval.

I only have a MAN OEM number — how do I find the VADEN equivalent?

Simply search the OEM number on our MAN cross-reference page or in the product search — the system indexes OEM, VADEN and other reference numbers together.

Do VADEN parts fit the TGX, and what about warranty coverage?

With IATF 16949 certified manufacturing, VADEN produces aftermarket parts to exact OEM dimensions for the MAN heavy-duty family, including the TGX and the TGA; products are listed with the OEM numbers they are compatible with.

MAN and TGX are registered trademarks of MAN Truck & Bus SE and are referenced on this page solely for compatibility/cross-reference purposes. VADEN is an independent aftermarket manufacturer; its products are not marketed as products of the trademark owner.
